Critical patches for Apple's Mac OS X
Newsfactor.com is running a story regarding Apple's most recent set of patches for Mac OS X.
Between the vulnerabilities, the most severe one is a buffer overflow within an operating system component (the Java ImageIO library) processing GIF files, which is used in various parts of the operating system, including the Safari browser.
Here's the link to the full story on Newsfactor's website:

Same thing happened on Windows, a couple of time ago. Buffer overflows have been found in various Windows components dealing with GIF and BMP files, as well as JPEG.
Malware authors have already tried to exploit such vulnerabilities on Windows. With more and more people doing the SWITCH and Apple's upcoming line of Intel Macs, it can't be long until we start seeing the same type of attacks directed at Mac OS.
The patch in question can downloaded from Apple's website - here.
