Axigen launches

AxigenAfter selling RAV to Microsoft, GeCAD was split in a number of companies of which one is of particular interest to security people - Axigen.

Their new product, called just that - Axigen - is a powerful and customizable mail server, and knowing the guys there, written with security in mind.

When it comes to mail servers handling huge loads, sendmail has been the de facto choice for ages. But at the same time, sendmail has been plagued with vulnerabilities of all sorts, from buffer overflow exploits to incorrect permissions and other misconfigurations. Not to mention the wonderful 'sendmail.cf'. Of course, there is also qmail. But being a flexible product and _very_ affordable, Axigen may be just the commercial 'sendmail' replacement you've been looking for.

If you're living in Bucharest, Axigen has a stand at the Binary 2005 fair, which will start exactly tomorrow.

Wow... this is indeed interesting. SMTP, POP3, IMAP and webmail! Quite impressive. And also kind of hard to get it super-secure and super-efficient. :P

The all-in-one approach reminds my of CommunigatePro [1] which I used for some time many-many years ago. From my Windows-only perspective at that time it was a nice (albeit commercial :P) product.

About sendmail replacement... I guess I'll go for postfix. :-))
