Romanian phishing on the rise
"Numele posesorului acestui domeniu este evident fals. Este vorba despre o combinatie intre numele guvernatorului BNR (Mugur Isarescu) si acela al unui moderator TV (Emanuel Isopescu). In urma acestei combinatii rezulta un nume (Mugur Isopescu) ce poate parea destul de familiar in ochii multor persoane" a declarat Sorin Mustacă, Chief Software Architect la AVIRA GmbH.

Additionally, I've came by another interesting phishing attempt yesterday, when a colleague forwarded the following text by IM: "sa-ti zic faza tare. intra pe www.myxspecial.irio.net si e acolo super oferta pentru reincarcat cartele de telefon. eu m-am inscris la ei acum 2 zile si pot sa-mi incarc cartela de connex cu 21 de dolari timp de 6 luni cu acelasi cod de reincarcare. tine minte adresa daca ai nevoie de ea ca nu stiu cand mai intru pe net". Her account was hacked and the attacker used Y! to broadcast the scam to all the contacts in her list.
With the increasing popularity of cards in Romania, cyberthieves didn't have to wait long until such attempts became feasible.
